Mum and Dad’s Taxi Service

n October 2011 TescoCars.com launched its campaign to find the 2011 Parent Driver of the Year – a competition to reward a parent for going above and beyond the call of duty in providing their children with the ultimate ‘parent taxi’ service.

The new award followed Tesco Cars’ research which revealed thousands of parents average more than 200 miles every week driving their children to after-school activities, sporting events, parties and other commitments.

Having received hundreds of heartfelt and impassioned nominations from children, grandparents, friends and neighbours, single-parent Sharon Appleyard was shortlisted alongside three other finalists before being crowned the overall winner. Sharon received the £1,000 Tesco voucher prize in time for Christmas.
